An autobiographical exploration of domestic
labor across three generations of Chinese women. Through overlapping footage of
kitchens from London to Wenzhou, the film collapses geographic and generational
boundaries to highlight the emotional and physical labor of women in the home.
A series of public interventions across
London extend the project beyond the screen. Audiences are invited to witness,
smell, hear, and taste family histories—through shared
cooking and storytelling. Archival photos, phone call fragments, and personal
narratives offer a multilayered reflection on gender, care, and everyday life.
Her Story situates itself within feminist
art practices that challenge patriarchal structures and preserve personal
memory. It is both a tender remembrance and a bold declaration of resistance.
